Endesa, through its subsidiary Endesa X, will build for CAROB, in the Marratxí industrial estate, a new self-consumption photovoltaic project with a power of 250 kWp (a nominal power of 200 kW) and a production of 350,000 kWh/year.
The new 250 kW self-consumption solar plant will be built at the CAROB facilities in the Marratxí industrial estate.
The founding partner of CAROB, Gori Bibiloni, the administrator, Joan Calafat, and the manager of CAROB, Marga Sureda, received the general director of Endesa in the Balearic Islands, Martí Ribas, accompanied by Javier del Campo, commercial manager of Endesa companies, at the facilities of CAROB S.A. During the view they were able to comment on various aspects of the new solar installation that will soon be installed on the entire available roof and in the parking area.
The plant’s production will be 350,000 kWh/year, which in environmental terms means a reduction in emissions of 115 tons of CO2/year.
In 2017, Endesa already installed a 20kW self-consumption solar plant for CAROB. Now, once again, CAROB has relied on Endesa X to respond to its renewable energy needs with an expansion of some 250kW, which added to the 20kW already installed, will have 270kWp of installed power for self-consumption from the CAROB facilities. An installation made up of 522 photovoltaic panels installed on an area of 1,500 m².
The project carried out by Endesa X is made up of 522 photovoltaic panels installed on an area of 1,500 m².
The plant’s production will be 350,000 kWh/year, which in environmental terms means a reduction in emissions of 115 tons of CO2/year. In economic terms, this less dependence on the network represents a saving of more than €25,300/year for CAROB S.A.
Margalida Sureda has pointed out that “the investment is part of a project to modernize our Marratxí plant, and will contribute to making our economic and social model more diversified, competitive and cohesive”. Martí Ribas stressed that “this installation is one more example of our commitment and willingness to work together with the companies of the Islands to make the energy transition process a reality”.
Self-consumption becomes part of CAROB’s energy source: clean, sustainable, inexhaustible energy that manages to maintain the highest quality of its services without environmental impact. An economic saving for the client. An environmental improvement for the planet.
Decarbonization of the islands
Endesa is working to lead the ecological transition and implement a completely decarbonised energy system by 2040, a decade before the emission reduction targets set by the European Union and Spain for 2050. This is one of the main conclusions of the study “The Territories Non-peninsular 100% decarbonized in 2040: the vanguard of the energy transition in Spain”, prepared by Monitor Deloitte, in collaboration with Endesa. This study analyzes the characteristics of non-peninsular territories and provides a set of solutions to decarbonize these regions.
In order to achieve a completely decarbonized energy system, the study analyzes the peculiarities of the island territories and proposes a set of actions in different areas: transport, homes, services and electricity generation.
Self-consumption, along with other energy efficiency initiatives, is one of the key points to address decarbonisation in the sphere of households, companies and the service sector. Through Endesa X, the company provides its customers with the implementation of photovoltaic solar technology fully adapted to their needs.
About CAROB
Company founded in 1970, 100% Majorcan capital and very involved in the local product. It is a product that contributes to the carob being a highly valued product in the countryside. We are very involved with the environment and that is why we wanted to get involved in a large solar panel project.
